Giving Sculpture

Inspiration by work from painters Caitlin Connolly, and Edmund Blair Leighton this hand carved, geometrically-triangulated basalt frame embodies matriarchal divinity; expressing strong, contemplative, hospitality.

The work physically expresses the words penned by Rachel Hunt Steenblik in her poem: "Open-Handed"

Her name is Open-Handed. She makes a hundred years of winter on a summer's day; brings golden sunlight to winter; calls new trees out of the earth that bear snow white fruit; heals holes in mountain sides; bestows names; and changes silver to gold in Her hands.
