Particles of Light Pavilions

Project completed: 2023

Particles of Light Pavilions is a University Sesquicentennial Gift project proposal and a metaphor for human life positively influencing surroundings as it moves. A BYU student going into the world spreads influence for a holistic increase for humanity. Inspired by shape of light particle research of Dr. Radoslaw Chrapkiewicz. Expressing the trajectories of positive influences emanating from graduates of this university we turned to several references.

Optical Glass Fiber (fiber optic) lighting. The fiber lightsource emanates light the entire length. Considering these pavilions to be the church education system, these fibers can represent individuals proceeding forward to the four corners of the earth, emanating light the entire way.

The scheme is: a landmark, a ceremonial connection (Marriott to Campus), uses locally reminiscent materials, a 10yr recurring community engaging time capsule, an inspiring place for contemplation and reflection, an engraved quote to prompt directional thought.
