the Art of Archive, Los Angeles, CA

This project is inspired by art authority and philanthropist, Eli Broad's call to museums to display more art. Both designers agree that it is dishonest tectonically and politically to steal the archive away, hidden in a mysterious basement. Instead, the archives are freed, by allowing them to wrap intricately around the galleries and become part of an ellipsoidal sculpture garden.

A visible, robotic system is used to retrieve new art, akin to a modern library's automated system. Creating a spectacle out of the automated archive system integrates the galleries, archives, and spaces in between, and strengthens the museums-goers experience.
