Medawar Urban Regeneration

Project: urban regeneration, masterplan proposal, 2013

Location: Beirut, Lebanon

Two distinct proposals aim to address the issues that arise from the incompatibility of industrial and residential land uses. They seek to explore the potential for both types of activities to coexist and derive mutual benefits from their proximity, particularly in terms of employment opportunities. From a sustainable development standpoint, the project aims to achieve the following objectives:

- Introduce a suitable model for harmonizing residential and industrial activities to create a more environmentally responsible urban environment.

- Enhance and preserve the diverse functions present within the neighborhood.

- Serve as a replicable example for public agencies to consider when dealing with other deteriorated areas in Beirut, while prioritizing environmentally conscious approaches.
