Rzepinek Residence
Project: under construction 2025
This low-energy house in Poland exemplifies the highest energy standards, setting a benchmark for efficiency and sustainability. While the orientation of the site presents a challenge, with its most exposed facade facing north and overlooking a stunning lake, we view this as an opportunity for innovative design. In Central Europe, where winters are long and temperatures can dip significantly below freezing, homes perform best with a southward orientation that maximizes passive solar gain. Our design approach prioritizes capturing the breathtaking lake views while judiciously minimizing openings on the north facade to enhance thermal efficiency. By carefully balancing these elements, we create a home that is both inviting and energy-smart. Moreover, we understand the value of natural light in enhancing the quality of life. Therefore, we have designed the staircase, the entire corridor in the private zone, and the main room to flood with daylight. These thoughtfully illuminated spaces not only elevate the home's atmosphere but also foster well-being, reducing reliance on artificial light and promoting a healthier living environment.
